Butler was where Ron met the love of his life, Linda Jennings Schowengerdt, whom he married on June 9 1979. Although they were married 46 1/2 years, their relationship spanned 67 years. They noticed each other in kindergarten and the attraction only grew. To this union, two daughters were born, Amanda Marie Schowengerdt and Emily Diane Schowengerdt Vangelovski.
Matthew 25:31 - 42 influenced Ron’s life. As a child, he was a Boy Scout, earning his Eagle Scout in 1968. In college he became the Director of Human Rescue–a suicide prevention hotline in KCMO.

Ron sung in choir, taught Sunday School, was a Deacon and served on the Council of Ministries.
Ron was a family man. He doted on his daughters and made sure his love was known. He was excited by his grandsons births, Maxwell Dean Vangelovski and Alexander Jennings Vangelovski. Extended family was equally important. Ron and Linda traveled many hours to family events and reunions. They cherished each and every moment of these gatherings.
